Initially written as a track to play live, Premonition was honed by playing early versions out at shows in New York just before the pandemic. Once lockdown and quarantine hit, we found ourselves experimenting with the structure and going over Premonition in the studio, where we re-built the back half of the track, adding depth and utilizing a more experimental sonic palette to provide atmosphere while the heavy, urgent drum programming, and snarling bass-lines do their work beneath two guitars--one fierce and distorted, cutting in with a hard edge to the heart of the mix, juxtaposed with its counterpart--a sublime clean channel, building a network of arpeggios in an interplay that propels the track forward. Premonition marks the first half of the forthcoming split single All Along/Premonition.
